This perennial flower brings long-lasting color to borders, cottage gardens, and meadow plantings, and its daisy-like blooms are a favorite of pollinators. Coneflowers are easy to grow from seed and return year after year in suitable climates, making them a rewarding choice for both new and experienced gardeners.
Whether planted in a dedicated flower bed or mixed among ornamental grasses and other perennials, Cara Yellow Coneflower adds height, texture, and a cheerful color accent to the summer garden. Planting & Care
Sow Cara Yellow Coneflower seeds indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost or directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Press seeds lightly into the soil surface and keep them moist but not waterlogged. Germination can be improved with a period of cold stratification. Once seedlings have several sets of true leaves, transplant them to their final location in full sun and well-drained soil.
Water young plants regularly during their first season to help them establish. Mature coneflowers are relatively drought tolerant but benefit from occasional watering during dry spells. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continued flowering, or leave some seed heads in place for winter interest and to feed birds.
