Planting & Care
Sow Mandarin Double Scoop Coneflower seeds indoors 8 to 10 weeks before the last frost, or directly outdoors after the danger of frost has passed. Press seeds lightly into the soil surface and keep them moist but not waterlogged. Germination can be improved with a period of cold stratification. Once seedlings have developed several sets of true leaves, transplant them to their final location in full sun and well-drained soil.
Water young plants regularly during their first season to help them establish. Once established, coneflowers are relatively low-maintenance and tolerate short dry spells. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage continued flowering, or leave some seed heads standing for winter interest and bird visits. Divide clumps every few years if plants become overcrowded.
