Grow stunning Pygmy Torch Amaranthus (Amaranthus caudatus) with these 500 premium seeds. This compact variety produces vibrant red, tassel-like flower clusters that add dramatic texture and color to gardens, containers, and borders. A favorite for cut flowers and dried arrangements.

General Information: Pygmy Torch is a dwarf, branching variety of love-lies-bleeding, typically reaching 18-24 inches tall. It blooms from mid-summer through fall, attracting pollinators like butterflies and bees. The deep red, rope-like inflorescences hang gracefully, creating a striking visual display.

Growing Information: Direct sow after last frost when soil temperatures reach 65-75°F. Sow seeds shallowly, pressing lightly into soil surface as they require light for germination. Space plants 10-12 inches apart. For earlier blooms, start indoors 4-6 weeks before last frost, transplanting after danger of frost has passed.

USDA Zones: Grown as an annual in zones 2-11. Self-seeds readily in favorable conditions.

Light Requirements: Full sun (6+ hours daily) for best flowering and compact growth. Tolerates light afternoon shade in hottest climates.

Water Requirements: Moderate water needs. Water regularly, allowing soil to dry slightly between waterings. Established plants have good drought tolerance. Avoid overwatering.

Soil Preferences: Well-draining, average to fertile soil with pH 6.0-7.5. Adaptable to various soil types.

Maintenance: Low maintenance. Deadheading not required. May benefit from light fertilization if soil is poor. Excellent for borders, containers, cutting gardens, and xeriscaping.

These seeds are untreated and non-GMO. Germination rates are typically high with proper conditions. Store unused seeds in cool, dry place for future planting seasons.
